Louis Mader Obituary

Louis F. Mader Sr. STAUNTON

Louis Frederick Mader Sr., 87, widower of Eleanor Lucille (Mullins) Mader, of North Madison Street, died Tuesday, September 16, 2008, at Augusta Nursing and Rehab Center in Fishersville.

He was born October 29, 1920, in Richmond a son of the late George Franklin and Aida (Lively) Mader and was a life long resident of Staunton.

Prior to retirement, Mr. Mader was employed in the Benger Lab at DuPont with 40 years of service.

He enjoyed for many years hunting, fishing, and was dedicated to his family. He hunted with a life long friend, Ralph Fadeley in the Headwaters area and fished with an additional good friend, Herman Adkison. He was a member for 20 years of the McDonald's Coffee Club.

He was a Boy Scout Leader for Troop 126 and a member of the National Rifle Assoc-iation. He was a member of Second Presbyterian Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife on June 5, 2003.

Family members include three sons and daughters-in-law, Fred and Nancy Mader, James and Kay Mader, and Joe and Linda Mader; a brother, George Franklin Mader of Hanover County; five grand-children, Matthew Mader, Justin Mader, Kimberley Hipes, Travis Mader, and Jason Mader; and two great- grandchildren, Hunter Hipes and Zoe Mader.

A graveside service will be conducted 11 a.m. Thursday, September 18, 2008, at Thornrose Cemetery by the Reverend Dr. Daniel S. Williams.

The family will receive friends following the service at the cemetery or at the respective homes of the three sons.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Second Presbyterian Church, Roofing Fund, P.O. Box 175, Staunton, VA 24402.

The family extends a special thank you to the C.N.A.'s and nurses at Augusta Nursing and Rehab Center.

Henry Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
