Daniel McCarthy Obituary

McCARTHY - Daniel E., of West Islip, L.I. passed away peacefully on July 11, 2008. Born in Bridgeport, Conn., he was raised in St. James, L.I. where he met the love of his life Vincinia. They were preparing to celebrate their 65th wedding anniversary. Educated in metallurgy he graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 1941. Danny served his country in the United States Army during WWII. He retired from Sperry Corp. in 1985. Loving gentle husband to Vincinia E. McCarthy. Devoted father of Kevin McCarthy, Janet (Bill) Cunningham, Cathy (Tommy) McCarthy-Holmes, John (Michele) McCarthy and the late Vincina McCarthy. Cherished Pop Pop of Catie, Billy, Erin, Danielle, Mac, Devin, Nealie and Danny. Daniel was predeceased by his parents, brothers and sister. Reposing at the Fredrick J. Chapey & Sons West Islip Funeral Home 1225 Montauk Hwy., (1/4 mile West of the Robert Moses Cswy.). Celebration of the Liturgy of Christian Burial St. Joseph's R.C. Church, Babylon, L.I. Wednesday 9:45am. Interment to follow at Calverton National Cemetery, Calverton, L.I. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made in Daniel's memory to St. Vincent DePaul Society at St. Joseph's R.C. Church, 39 North Carll Ave., Babylon, NY, 11702. Visiting Tuesday 2:00-4:30 and 7:00-9:30pm.
