To the Family of Judy Schmidt,
Please accept my sincere condolences on your recent loss.
I would like to take this opportunity to say a few words about Judy. I first met Judy approximately eight years ago. At the time I was the Director of Transportation for Jericho Schools. As an employee of Laidlaw Bus, Judy was assigned a route in the Jericho School District. Judy was someone I could always rely on. If ever I needed a special pick-up she was there. She never refused. One year I was receiving a lot of complaints on one of the elementary school routes so I asked Judy if she would take over the route. Of course she said “yes”. I never received another complaint on the route.
The year before I retired, I had the opportunity to hire a new driver for the district. The choice was easy, I recommended Judy for the job. Her dedication, reliability and professionalism were a true asset for any school district.
Judy will surely be missed, not only by the district but by her fellow drivers, office staff and most of all the children she transported and cared for day after day, year after year. I’ve said it many times, “if I had a hundred drivers like Judy, I wouldn’t have to come to work each day”.
God Bless
Sincerely,
Don Otten

To the Schmidt Family,
We are deeply saddened by the passing of Judy. She was a beautiful person and too young to leave us.

Judy,
I am still trying to absorb this. I can't believe you are gone. What are we going to do without you? You did everything! Anything anyone needed, you were there. Never complaining, just always helping. I hope you realize how much I appreciated everything. And how much you were loved.
First my mom and now you...taken by this horrible disease. Two wonderful women. I just don't understand. We are all broken hearted.
I love you and miss you terribly.
Love,
Kim
