Frank LoPinto Obituary


LoPINTO - Frank P., a leading Production Manager for several of 7th Avenue's leading garment manufacturers, and a former partner in Kohler Couture, died in North Carolina on September 5 of complications following surgery. He was 82. Among the notable fashion manufacturers Mr. LoPinto worked with are: Ellen Tracy (1950's-1960's), Betsey Johnson with Paraphernalia (1960's), Kohler Couture and The Kohler Collection (as Partner 1960's-1980's), Mary Ann Restivo, Randy Kemper, Geoffrey Beene, Sanyo/Burberry, and the Philippe Adec Division of Morelle Products. Frank was responsible for the manufacture of the historical paper dresses of the 1960's. With Kohler Couture his gowns were worn by members of the Kennedy family at John F. Kennedy's Inauguration Ball. With Mary Ann Restivo, he produced many of the outfits worn by Matilda Cuomo when she was first lady of New York State. A long time resident of Amityville, Long Island, Frank and his wife Rose had retired to Emerald Isle NC in 1999. Rose LoPinto passed away in 2005 after suffering a stroke. Frank and Rose were married for 58 years. Their romance began as teenagers in high school in Brooklyn. Frank was a WWII Navy Veteran who served overseas. Frank is survived by his loving daughter Joann (Jodie) Folk and son-in-law Thomas Folk, Esq. of Fairfax Va., granddaughters Karina and Elizabeth, his loving son Dr. Joseph F. LoPinto and daughter-in-law Gail LoPinto of New York City and Sag Harbor, NY and grandsons Frank and Joseph. On Friday, September 26th at 11:00am, a memorial mass will be held at The Church of The Holy Innocents at 128 West 37th Street in New York City.
