Dad-
It's been a while since I have written on here, but I had to post and share this with you! I know you would be so proud of your son Brian. He looked up to you in so many ways as we all did, but he even followed in your footsteps as an FDNY fireman. He truly loves his job as did you.
Yesterday at the 147th FDNY Medal Day at City Hall, your son Brian was awarded the James Gordon Bennett Medal for his acts of bravery. The highest Medal given out in the FDNY. I know you are with him always but on this day I know you were with him for sure. Please continue to watch over him and bring him to safety.
You would have LOVED to see him yesterday. It was such a beautiful day for him. FDNY is an amazing family to be a part of.
It made us all sad that you were not there physically, but we know you were smiling down on him. We are all so proud of him.

I was terribly saddened when I heard Joe had passed away. I'm sorry I was never informed as I would have loved to have visited him while he was Ill. Joe and I were fireman together in 458/58. Joe was the BEST of fireman and man.I recently found a card he sent from his 40th birthday. On it was a very awkward looking teenage Joe. He had one great sense of humor. I always keep Joe in my prayers. What a wonderful family he had and I know he was proud of them. I hope Brian made it onto the FDNY. Best to Colleen and all Joes family.

The Relay for Life was yesterday,Ijust got back to Providence a little bit ago, it was a great evening, always good to the see the cousins hanging together, although there was a certain somberness to the evening as it seemed we all took turns at different times missing you.

It's that time again! Bethpage is honored to host their 4th Annual Relay for Life sponsored by The American Cancer Society on June 5, 2010. This event starts on Saturday night at 7pm and goes to 7am the following morning. As most of you know the walk is a moving experience to honor those who have survived and to remember those who have passed from this terrible disease. Last year we did not participate in the event as it was Kevin's graduation from Colgate Univeristy. We would however, like to continue our family tradition this year and walk in honor of our loved one, Lt. Jospeh P. Colleluori and all other family and friends that have passed on. We are extending the invitation to YOU! We had amazing turnouts our first two years and would like to continue our tradition. If anyone is interested in participating in this event please let me know as soon as possible. Hi Joe, I just wanted to let you know that I think of you often, and am forever grateful for the conversation we had a few years ago at the family Christmas party. If not for your advice, I wouldn't have gone back to school and definitely would not have taken any police tests. Now I find myself 2/3's of the way through my Police Academy, and I was told that my college degree was one of the deciding factors in my hiring. Thank you, Joe. That one conversation opened my eyes and changed my life. My prayers are with you.

Last night was something Joe! Your little girl looked radiant. Her smile lit up the room. You were on our minds all night. I felt you could see it all. I know you would be proud.
You and Coleen did a great job with these children, you have much to be proud of.
We all miss you so. It helps to have days like yesterday. Though there is a void, the happiness shines through. Celebration does the heart good.
Btw your grandson stole the show!! I bet you and the others in Heaven enjoyed his "walk" down the aisle best of all.

Merry Christmas Joe! It has been 16 months since my husband, Joe Colleluori, passed away from a brain tumor. I would like to share something with all of you and ask your help as we fundraise for the American Cancer Society.
The next day after Joe died, on January 4, 2007, I found a penny on my bed. It was very odd because I had just made it shortly before. Pennies have continued to appear on so many occasions since his death… when I left for vacation to Lake George, in my shoes, outside my car, in my kitchen cabinets, on the bleachers at Kevin’s game. Finally, I began to save them because I felt they were from him.
One day last year, I mentioned it to Diana. She remembered hearing a story about finding pennies. After a little research,
she gave me the following:
The Penny
I found a penny today just lying on the ground.
But it’s not just a penny, this little coin I’ve found.
Found pennies come from heaven, that’s what my Grandpa told me.
He said Angels toss them down. Oh, how I loved that story.
He said when an Angel misses you, they toss a penny down.
Sometimes just to cheer you up, to make a smile out of a frown.
So, don’t pass by that penny, when you’re feeling blue.
It may be a penny from heaven that an Angel’s tossed to you.
An Angel is now watching over you.
The penny has a whole new meaning to me. Before, it was just 1/100th of a dollar. Now, it represents all our loved ones who are no longer with us. They are throwing those pennies down from heaven to make us smile. Let’s make them smile by giving them back to the American Cancer Society “So Others May Live”. Your loved ones will know that each penny contributed is because you remembered them. My goal is 1 million pennies ($10,000)
The American Cancer Society’s “Relay for Life” is coming to Bethpage once again on May 31, 2008. Last year our team consisted of over 100 family and friends. Together, we raised $15,000 in Joe’s memory. The event was a wonderful tribute to him and the others who lost their lives to cancer. It was even more moving to see the courageous survivors take their “Survivor” lap around the track. As the sun went down the luminary bags were lit to symbolize HOPE and all the bags had a name of a survivor and many for those who have lost their lives to cancer.
We invite you to join us on May 31st as we spend the night walking for hope once more. If you are not able to make it, you can participate in other ways…

Summer is coming and I find myself thinking about you and your brothers, my sister and I, and often Coleen at your house while our parents talked inside.
I miss Aunt Marianne's laugh and her smile. I miss talking and playing cards with Uncle Joe, and I miss talking to your grandparents in German. I had a weird dream last night, I was traveling on business and was in Las Vegas and who do I run into but you, your brothers Bob and Big John, for some reason I was riding a 10 speed and we had lunch and were having a great time cutting up about my bicycle and its rusty chain which Big John tried to fix but broke! I don't normally remember my dreams but I woke remembering this one, what I remember is how great you looked and how happy you are. We miss you greatly Joe but we are glad the suffering is over for you and that you are back to looking like yourself and acting like yourself. Watch over us my friend, enjoy the golf!

dear joe.
coleen was gracious with an invitation to your plaque dedication at work. we all went. it was too far for bea to come but she would have been honored to attend. my brother in law john and jaimie also came from my family.
i think the one thing that struck me most was as i looked around the room i saw all the faces that i saw time and time again while you were sick at the house.
it brought back all the memories good and bad. do you remember all the jigsaw puzzles? that was our sanity. here we sat day after day trying to make pieces fit where they would not. everyday a new face appeared at the table. all who did come became addicted. we kept a silent vigil. keeping each other company as well as you. not knowing what to do to make it better. nothing would make it wright. we were in lifes jigsaw puzzle and we could not find the right piece.
Sometimes life could mimic a jigsaw puzzzle. some parts fit nicely without effort. marriage, babies and happy times. then we struggle for a while with other pieces until we find the part that fits and every thing goes good for a while. well joe this piece will never fit in. do you remember the piece that chad stole and ate and we could not finish the puzzle after hours and hours of work? I feel like someone stole a piece of lifes puzzle from our beautiful picture and we will always have and unfinished ending. i think god was helping us practice getting used to it. he did not succeed. he did succeed in letting us make a lasting memory everyday to hold dear. in your name and honor we stood and saluted you for the last time. all of us who cared stood shoulder to shoulder and cried in public for the last time, like it was yesterday, fresh wounds on our souls. WE THANK YOU FOR THE HONOR AND THE MEMORIES AS WE TRY TO FINISH THIS PUZZLE, BUT I GUARANTEE It WILL LOOK UNFINISHED WITHOUT YOU........

To Be honest Dad.. I dont even know where to begin...Its been a year...and i don't know how i lived a year without you. i just wanted to congratulate you on becoming a grandfather again! Your grandson, named after you ...JOSEPH WALKER ( after your fav. show) was born on July 31st...7lbs...15 oz and 21 inches long..hes is just adorable and actually has your nose! I wish you were here to meet it him and cuddle with him like you did Saige....Dad we love you and miss you terribly...
Please just watch over us always =)

Dear Dad.
Well This week was our annual Lake George Week, I just got back yesterday because I couldn't go the whole week but the rest of the family is still there and I tell you we missed you there. I missed your face ever morning when i would wake up, your excitment when we were on the boat, and of course just being with the family. Dad its so weird not having anymore father figures in the family. Both you and Uncle frank are gone and i tell you i first noticed how strange it truly is while i was in Lake George the past few Days. Jennifer had baby Charlette there and of course Kristen and trev were there....and all of us except Brian joeline and Saige because there are working on the house and because Your grandson is going to be born anyday....but day we missed you and Uncle Frank..and just know we were thinking about you...and love and miss you so much!

You've been on my mind. Not sure why, but I miss you so. I miss arguing with you about politics and law. I miss talking to you about sports and family, and remembering when we were young.
Just know, I will never forget you. Just like Dad and Uncle Joe, Uncle Mario and Uncle John, Grandma and Grandpa, I carry a piece of you with me, always.
Hope the golf there is good. Tell the rest I am thinking of them too, especially my Dad.

Dad....
This weekend was the Relay for Life walk that we have been preparing for months now...Of course we put a team together in memory and in honor of you. We had a great team. So many family members, friends and your brothers from 324 came out to walk in your memory. We had a lot of fun and raised a lot of money to heopfully find a cure for cancer. I love you dad and miss you so much!

Colleen and family.I keep Joe's and Chads picture on my desk and Brian Hickey's also. I find it hard to grasp what this life means at times and how our life has changed so much in so short a time. I miss going to the " best job in the world " but I have the memories of having worked with great men and Joe was one of the best. Stay well. Be strong.

Its been awhile since i last wrote but i had to let you know how amazing kevin is doing in lacrosse..I know kev and his lax meant so much to you and you always looked foward to watching him play...we all DO...and i am actually at the Naval academy right now...awaiting tomorrows game against NAVY...our rivals! Kevin played AMAZING on Friday night against Bucknell in the semi finals....scoring 4 goals..i knew you were with him Dad and looking down on him..i know u were so proud of him! Please watch over him tomorrow and help him WIN....

I finally made it to the cemetary today...although it was difficult i found the strength to visit...ALthough people say this gets easier with time..i feel like it only gets worse..i miss you terribly....i often think about life without you and it just scares me....i miss everything about you....i love you dad and i hope you have a great 1st Easter in heaven..we will miss you.....

uncle joe,
sunday we had a family party, and it was very different not seeing you there. it was pretty tough but i stayed strong. well today is my birthday. woah 15!! =] i stayed strong all day. my birthday will always be a lucky day though. and ill tell you why.. i want to say about 2 years ago you came out of the hopsital and you said "are we still having cake for dana?" and i dont remember who told me it touched my heart big time! all day i justheard your voice singing happy birthday to me.. =( i love you and miss you soo much!!! its just not the same without .. i wish you were still here!!! i love you so much!!! no one can ever take that from me!!!

My Dearest Dad....
I just wanted to say that I miss you. I know that those words are without saying, but i ask myself everyday how we all go on without you...a man that has brought so much to our lives, especially mine! Dad i miss everything about you and i can't begin to tell you about the pian i feel each and everyday...I know your in a better place, free from pain. I also know that you couldn't live the way you lived for so long, but i just can't picture life without you..YOUr Humor, your hardwork, your dedication as a husband, father, granfather,friend,fireman, i could say i even miss you yelling at us when we left the lights on in a room , but most of all i miss your love..i miss the hugs..the "diana everything is going to be okay" and the time we spent together when you knew i was down. Dad You were the true definition of a father....and i miss you more and more everyday. People told me it would get easier, but right now i think its only getting harder...At first i felt as if you were on a LONG "24" at work or maybe even myrtle beach with the guys playing golf....but its come to reality that your never coming back...you will never get to see me graduate, get married, or have children...but i do know that you will guide me every step of the way and look down on me and show me signs that you are there and that you are proud......
I love you dad so very much!
p.s It's a boy! you were right...Brian and Joeline are having a boy =)

Dear Joe,
It took a while for me to write this and it is a prayer to your family and friends and those you have left behind.I never thought it would be this difficult to lose a neighbor.We were not really close,but given the chance we might have been...but just close enough to say hello and occasionally stop and chat.Yet I knew you as a man,father,grandfather,public servant,firefighter and a hero to many who knew you.I knew you Joe,and I loved and admired everything you stood for and held close.You told me once that you did not understand how life could be so unfair,but you always did the best you could and always would.I looked across the street when it snowed today Joe,wishing to see you there doing the task we both hated and joked about so often...clearing that God forsaken snow we both cursed each time we faced it...and for once selfish moment,I wished you were there to face it with me...but you were not...and as I pushed the snowblower across the street to clear your driveway,I wished for one selfish moment,that I would see you...so we could talk and make a few jokes...I did hear your voice anyway Joe, and I knew you could hear me..it blew warm in the cold winter wind.I miss you Joe,my neighbor,a great father and grandfather,a hero and an insipration to me,a man difficult to inspire.Rest easy my friend,you have found the promised land.I pray for your family and friends and I miss you.I will think of you always as an inspiration and you will be my neighbor forever..
