My condolences to Mrs. Sackman's family and friends. I am a middle school health teacher in upstate NY and have been showing a video called: Teen Files, Smoking Truth or Dare with Mrs. Sackman in it. The students that I show this to are so interested in her when she speaks. At first they are truly unsure how to "listen" to someone who has had cancer and who has had a laryngectomy. Her message is clear and the students are moved by her presence in the video. Janet must have been a wonderful mother, grandmother, wife, and friend. As I was showing the video to my students today, I was just curious via the Internet as to Mrs. Sackman's location, only to find out that she died a short while ago. I will continue to show this video and focus on her part exclusively to my students. She is the kind of person I would have enjoyed meeting.
