BERGEN - Robert Whitefield, 72, of Manorville, L.I. on October 23, 2007. Proprietor/CEO of Barish Pump Company, a family owned business. Son of the late Jacob Milton Bergen, Jr. and Ruth Mathews Swayer. Beloved husband of Patricia A. Bergen. Loving father of Craig Bergen and his wife Kim, Brad Bergen, Daryl Bergen and his wife Terry and Dawn Bergen. Dear stepfather of John Kirmish and his wife Laurel and Joanne Esposito. Cherished grandfather of Gina, Brent, Christopher, Kristina, Paul, Jon, Craig, Taylor, Ryan, Jennifer and Thomas. Fond brother of William S. Bergen and his wife Frances, the late Jacob Milton, 3rd, the late David James and the late Marian Ruth. The family will receive friends this evening (Thursday) 7-9:30 PM and Friday 2-4:30 and 7-9:30 PM at the Powell Funeral Home, Inc., 67 Broadway (Rt. 110), Amityville. Funeral service Saturday 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Interment, Powell Cemetery, Farmingdale. As an alternative to flowers, the family has suggested memorial contributions in Mr. Bergen's name be made to the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association. Envelopes available at the funeral home.

Bob's passing was a great shock to me. I loved him dearly. He was my longest brother and I helped raise him, being 12 years older than Bob. God bless Bob.
