I can hardly believe it's a year since Bobby has left us. I still find myself waiting for a call....not believing that it will never come. I find myself glancing at the phone as I wallk about the house wishing it would ring and we could have one of our hour (or two) conversations. I miss him so much and I think of him every day. I try to think of all the good times and all the laughs we had. I often reflect on the good ol' days at Rope Lane, the year that I got a job teaching at Abbey Lane (the same time Mike got a job in Boston) and I stayed in New York and lived with Bobby. There is no one that could make me laugh the way he did. I think of how hard he worked to raise his girls... endless days.... working at UL then coming home to do the birthday parties, sports, activities, homework, baths etc., etc. I applaude him and have so much respect for his determined effort, even through all his illnesses. It was not an easy task to be a single parent with all the responsibililites. I was only sorry that I was living in Florida and could not be more hands on to help him when the girls were so little. He would take a couple of trips a year to visit us in Florida and I would try to give him the much needed break he deserved. A relaxing afternoon sitting by our pool or a golf game with Mike were a treat for this busy man. The girls would have cute little vacation outfits that he so carefully matched together. It was so heartwarming to watch him with the girls. They filled his life with such joy. (he never really got the hair thing with the girls though... Aunt Debbies job).
I may have lost my best friend and brother in a physical sense but he will always be in my heart and I carry him with me each day. Someday we will laugh again. Love you more Bobby.....

Thinking about Bobby again today. Can't believe a whole year has passed. I would love to be sitting at his kitchen table talking the hours away, as we so often did. I miss that. I miss him. He is always in my heart. My love to all the Desa family. God Bless. Love Maureen Mulford Christie

Bob,
I was thinking of you again today, as I have so often in the last year. Almost every night I walk around the neighborhood to get some much needed exercise. Last week I put some new tunes onto my iPod. One of the albums I loaded is Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young - 4 Way Street. Well when the songs from that album started playing it was like going back in time, Don't Let it Bring You Down, Cowgirl in the Sand, others that played. Here I was walking in Brea CA in 2008 but everything else was 1972 or so...again. Hanging out at 15 Rope Lane. For a few minutes I could have been actually walking between Rope and Polaris as I did so many times at night. Such good times, it is so hard to believe that was so long ago, it is like it was yesterday. So many memories of you, all good. Tonight as Don't Let it Bring you down played I was remembering that crazy night at Cousin Ozzies in Huntington :)
All those times with You, Mike, Colin, Jimmy, Mark, Mitch, Carmodie, at your house what a blast.
Thank you for being a great friend and for all the terrific memories.
Always,
Jim

He was my dad. He is truely deeply missed and is always in my heart forever. I love him more than life itself and i really cannot believe he s gone. it is so hard now that he's not physically here, but i know he's looking down and watching me grow more day by day. i know he cant physically see me going to prom/graduate or walk me down my wedding aile, but i know his presence will be there. He'll be there standing right next to me through everyuthing in my life. Although now i would have thourough advice or share those longggggg stories my dad had, i know he did a good job raiseing me and ill make the right choices and i know no matter what he'll love me more. that was our thing we had, and what i can always look back on.. "i love you dad" n he would say "i love you more" and those were his last words. i miss my dad so much and love him. and i know ill do everything in my power to make him proud of me.
- i love you daddy <3

I have many fond and cherished memories of years of friendship with Bob Desa and are very saddened to hear of his passing. Bob and I were Island Trees HS classmates and then fraternity brothers at Nassau Comm. Many an good time was sent with Bob, he was always a significant part of everybodies enjoyment. On a college venture trip to Nigara Falls with Bob and five others fraternity brothers many a laugh was shared by all, espicially crossing the border back to the USA. I haven't seen Bob for many years and my heart goes out to all his family.

My earliest memories always include; Ernie, Esther, Bobby and Michael. You moved to Levittown [right next door] when Bobby and I were about 4 years old. Over 50 years ago... much laughter, some tears and lots of talking and growing up and growing older and now, missing you. I will be forever grateful to Bobby for being there for my parents, especially, in their last years. It was comforting to know that he was right there. Kristen and Katelyn... I want you to know that your visits gave my parents such joy. Thank you. Well, my forever friend, it has been 50 golden years. Save me a spot in heaven [right next door]. I Love You and will carry you in my heart forever...Sleep tight. Love, Maureen

Bob you were a great role model for being an involved father to his family. I learned a lot from you on the main priorities with life and what is really important. I bought the ‘Giving Tree’ for my kid based upon your recommendation, and I have and always will think of you when it is read. You always made yourself available for others and that will be sorely missed. Rest in Peace my friend. My condolences to the entire Desa family.

I met Bobby when I was 15 years old. We had a very special, unique relationship. We talked for hours on end (I'm sure that doesn't surprise anyone, Bob loved to talk!) He lived with Mike and I for many years and had such a special presence in my children's lives. Im finding it hard to put into words exactly what Bobby meant to me. So I will close with saying goodbye to my brother, my best friend, my true companion.
Love you more Bobby....

Bob was that all around good guy always willing to lend an ear and to share what he knew. He would go out of his way to help others whenever he could, whether it be work related, personal or best of all on the golf course and somehow he would always manage to make you come out with a smile on your face. We will miss him dearly. The attached photos from May of 2000, “Bring Your Child To Work Day”, picture him as I will always remember him.

I was deeply saddened by the news on the loss of Bob Desa. My deepest sympathies go out to Bob’s mom Mrs. Desa, Mike, Debbie, and to Bob’s two children.
Lucky for me my memories of Bob go back to high school. Bob was always there for me as a teen and adult.
The last time I saw Bob was about four years ago, and lucky for me, he was the same Bob.
It was in Levittown and it was as though we had gone back in time, he was the same guy, giving advice as only Bob could……..it was wonderful.
I have very fond memories of not only growing up knowing Bob, but also as an adult getting out for a round of golf with him on occasion. There was nothing like playing 18 with Bob. You were guaranteed to have the best time, and plenty of laughs during any round.
Rest in peace good friend, I love you and miss you.

I would like to extend my condolences to the family and friends of Robert Desa. These are difficult times, however, much comfort can be found in God's Word the Bible with such scriptures as Isa.25:8, and Ps.37:11,29.
