Martha was one of the sweetest women that I have ever known. She was kind, cheerful; a woman that always had a smile for everyone. I worked with Martha at Sterns and I never remember her saying a cross word or being curt with anyone. I ran into her in the mall a few months ago. She was so happy, talking about former coworkers at Sterns. She had her backpack and her usual pink baseball cap-- her trademarks! She just was an amazing woman. She will be missed. I know she is at peace now, walking in the fields of heaven.

Martha was loving, caring, sweet woman. From childhood, I remember how close she was to my mother and to other family members. Later on when I lost my mother, I remember her there consoling us over our loss. As I grew up and the extended families grew, she would always remember my birthday and I looked forward to her Christmas cards which for so many years contained pictures of her grandchildren and updates on their families. Of the last few times I saw her, one of those times going with her, my sister and my uncle into the house next door that belonged to our grandparents before it was knocked down and sharing family memories. She was there for us again when my grandfather died last year even though she did not have transportation of her own to go to all the services. She’d come down and visit her sister and I know how close they were, but yet remembered to still call to say hello. I will forever remember her laugh and smile.

One can not have known Martha and not have been touched by her in some way or form. If we all could take a little of what we learned from her life and they way she lived and apply it to our own lives, she will continue to live on within our hearts.

To Bobby, Paul, Allen and your families and to Patti and your family: Words alone can not explain how sorry I am for your loss. My God bless and comfort you all. I am sorry that I am not able to be there. Please know that all of you are in my thoughts and prayers.

There are certain people you just never forget.
Martha worked for me over a decade ago at Sterns. She was such a nice person to have known. Always with a helpful smile cheering up my day she would love to help the customers in the store. My heart goes out to her family at this time.
