Virginia Hand Obituary

HAND - Virginia A.,died on Thursday, December 6, 2007 at the home of daughter Virginia Durett in Westfield, NJ, at the age of 91. Born in Brooklyn, NY, Mrs. Hand was a homemaker and a volunteer for the Good Samaritan Hospital Guilds and a founding member of the hospital gift shop. She owned "Ginny's" gift/decoration shop in Bay Shore, LI. Mrs. Hand also had a lifelong love of dancing. She was the beloved wife of the late Henry Jerome Hand. Loving mother of Richard and his wife Jean Hand, Virginia and her husband the late Richard Durett and the late Henry Hand, Jr. Cherished grandmother of Jason Hand, Brendan Hand, Meghan Lambert and James Durett and great grandmother of Aiden, Ciara, Lauren and Maeke'a. Reposing at The Fredrick J. Chapey & Son's West Islip Funeral Home, 1225 Montauk Hwy. (1/4 mile west of the Robert Moses Cswy.). Celebration of the Liturgy of Christian Burial Monday 10:45AM at St. Joseph RC Church, Babylon, LI. Interment to follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Cutchogue, LI. Visiting Sunday 2-4:00 and 7-9:00PM. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mrs. Hand's name may be made to Center for Hope Hospice, 1900 Raritan Rd., Scotch Plains, NJ 07076 and Christa House, The Jerry Hartman Residence 720 Albin Ave, West Babylon, NY 11704.
