Mary Borntreger Obituary

Mary L. Borntreger, 91

HARTLY - Mary L. Borntreger of Hartly died peacefully Saturday, March 17, 2007, in her home surrounded by her loving family. She was 91.

She was born May 2, 1915, in Mt. Eaton, Ohio and was the daughter of the late Emanuel and Lizzie (Wengerd) Yoder.

Mrs. Borntreger was given the name "Mother Mary" by some 50-plus children she fostered and babysat.

She was a member of the Kenton Mennonite Church, Kenton, Delaware.

She was the beloved wife of the late Levi Borntreger, who preceded her in death Jan. 4, 2003. She is also preceded in death by a son, Andrew Borntreger; a son-in-law, Ivan Kuepfer; a grandson, Raymond Troyer; a great-grandson, Derek Troyer; four brothers, David E. Yoder, Levi E. Yoder, Andy E. Yoder and Dan E. Yoder; and a sister, Anna Hershberger.

She is survived by her children, Barbara and Enos Troyer of Kentucky, Joe Henry and Anna Borntreger of Hartly, Fannie Mae and Bill Wireman of Dover, Katie and Richard Troyer of Tustin, Mich., Mary and Paul Nolt of Altamont, Tenn.; 35 grandchildren; 11 step-grandchildren; 67 great-grandchildren; 29 step-great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Fannie Hostetler of Holmesville, Ohio and Katie Weaver of Dundee, Ohio.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in Kenton Mennonite Church, 2422 Chance Road, Kenton.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the church.

Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery.

Instead of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made with donations to Kenton Mennonite Church, 2422 Chance Road, Kenton, DE 19955.

Arrangements are by Pippin Funeral Home, Wyoming.
