Irene Hartman Obituary

Irene P. Morris Hartman 1922-2008 WILLIAMSTOWN Irene P. Morris Hartman, 86, of 338 North St. Williamstown, died Sunday, August 24, 2008 at the Sweetbrook Health Care Center in Williamstown. Born Jan 1. 1922 in Bennington, Vt. , daughter of Ronald and Lura Packard Morris, she attended schools in North Adams. In her younger years she was employed at the Clark Biscuit Co. and was a housekeeper and babysitter for several families in the area. Most of her life she assisted for husband in the operations of the family business , Hartman's Garage, in Williamstown where she pumped gas, sold handmade crafts and groceries. She also was employed at the Clock & DeCloux Harchery in Williamstown. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of North Adams for over 70 years. Her husband, Charles Edward Hartman, whom she married August 16, 1941 died August 30, 2002. She leaves a daughter, Diane M. Murphy and her husband, Lawrence, of Pownal, Vt.; a son, Raymond C. Hartman and his wife, Rosemarie, of Williamstown; seven grandchildren: Robin Nelson, Karen Farron, Jason Murphy, Raymond Hartman Jr., Joseph Hartman, Carol Hartman and Michael Hartman; three stepgrandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; former daughter-in-law, Linda Hartman; and cousins and sisters-in-law. She was predeceased by a daughter, Linda Jane Hartman, who died 1979; two grandsons, Robert Hurley who died in 2005 and Edward Hartman who died in 1967; six sisters, Stella Aldrich, Dorothy Rich, Lillian Morris, Ruth Critelli, Helen Smith and Lucille Mille; and two brothers, Kenneth and Walter Morris. FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services will take place Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Sherman Burbank Memorial Chapel in Williamstown. Burial will follow in Eastlawn Cemetery. Calling Hours at the FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, WEST CHAPELS, 521 West Main St., North Adams are Tuesday from 5 to 7 p.m. Memorial donations are suggested for the St. Patrick's Church Food Pantry through the funeral home.

My sincere condolences Diane....so sorry for the loss of your Mom...and to the rest of the family, for the loss of their beloved Grandma....now she's with Charlie again, to listen to more of his stories....

I was so sorry to read of Irene's passing. I shared several visits with her during my time as pastor at North Adams Baptist and would often bump into her and Charlie at various stores in town. Please know my thoughts and prayers are with you all.
