Jo Elkins Obituary

Jo Ann Elkins 1932 - 2008 NORTH ADAMS Jo Ann Elkins, died Nov. 3. Born in Youngstown, Ohio, April 20, 1932, to William and Rose Faour. When she was 7 years old her father died, the family moved to North Adams, to reside near relatives. She attended Mark Hopkins Elementary and Drury High School, graduating in 1950 with honors and was a member of Nu Sigma 2nd pro merito honor societies. She had met and married her high school sweetheart Donald Northrup, and after his four years in the Navy they moved to Cambridge, where she worked for Metropolitan Life Insurance Co. in Boston, while her husband attended Wentworth Tech School, they then moved Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., where she resided for 46 years and was very active in Beta Sigma Phi and was a life member until her death. Jo Ann was an active member of the following, Frat, Order of Eagles lodge 4242, American Legion and Ft. Lauderdale Navy League. She attended Blessed Sacrament Church in Ft.Lauderdale, a choir member and also a Parishoner in St. Clements. She remarried after the death of her husband Donald, who passed away 1975. Married present husband Robert A. Elkins in 1984. She leaves her daughter Lisa Ann Gilchrest, two granddaughters Danielle and Julienne and three great-grandsons Dylan, Colby, William. She also leaves behind many friends and former students from Europe as she was a host family.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you in your time of grief. May your memories bring you comfort. Though we hadn't seen Jo Ann for a number of years, she was often in our thoughts. My father and I extend our deepest sympathy.
