Dottie and family:
Carol and I are saddened by your sudden and abrupt loss of Ed. I will always remember his ready smile, his upbeat attitude towards life, and his dedication to you and whatever he was doing. Some things always seem to remain the same; these characteristics were there at Manhattan over 35 years ago, when I saw you both at Manhattan in 1992 for the 25th reunion, and especially when we had our reunion in 2000. Here's to the memory of a wonderful human being!

My dear friend Dottie:
In reading Ed's obituary, I realized that we have been friends for nearly all of your married life. What wonderful memories I have of sharing good times and holidays with you and Ed and your children when we lived in Ohio. You Gaffneys were our surrogate family! I pray that your faith will help you through these difficult days, and that you will find some comfort in the family and friends Ed accumulated with you over the years.
With love and prayers,

Ed was always a professional with a warm heart and a sense of humour. When ever he spoke you knew he was sincere. There wasn't a fake cell in his body.
I enjoyed running with him durring our visits to Dublin. I think his running was a therapy he enjoyed and a way to stay connected with his children.
He will forever be a part our memories.

Ed is fondly remembered as a co-worked and friend.I shared most of his 22 years with his B&W Barberton career starting with his beginning in Engineering. Presently, I have 35 years with B&W and have only pleasant reflections of Ed. He was always a nice, considerate man with unique talent, commitment and fortitude for achieving success at all he did. B&W and the world is a better place because of his brief time with us.

We consider ourselves blessed to have had the opportunity to know you during our days at Manhattan. Ed, your impish Irish smile that we witnessed so often during our 2000 reunion was identical to the one we enjoyed so much 35 years earlier. We miss you.
Our condolences to Dottie and the children. You are all in our thoughts and prayers as you deal with your husband and fathers passing

Ed & Dottie: Even though the past 30+ years have kept us miles apart - it was just like old times when we reunited at Manhattan in 2000. I am so glad we have been able to keep in touch (E-mail is wonderful!) and remember the fun we had at all the parties and dances, etc. I imagine us doing it all again in heaven - just that Ed leads the way this time! May the Lord help your family through this temporary separation. Our prayers are with you - Love, Jim & Carol

Ed & Dottie: We'll always remember with fondness the great times the 8 of us (Jack and Maria, Jim and Carol, you both and us) had together during our years at Manhattan C. We'll especially remember those Monopoly games for $$ we played at each other's parents' houses. Ed, I don't recall you ever winning any of that money, but it was obviously good training for your future success as a businessman! And your success as a businessman, as those of us who know you well, was not limited to making money, but to doing the right things for your family, employees, and community. May you look down from what we are sure is your exalted place with Him, and guide us all to live the type of life you did. You, and for sure your family, will always be in our thoughts and prayers.
