Hello,
We would like to express our deepest condolences and also let the Conley Family know that we recently sent Care Packages to American troops in the war zones. Each box carried a dedication sheet that includes the name, service information and a photo of your loved one. We recognize that this is a humble tribute, but we wanted you to know that it is heartfelt and made possible by thousands of like-minded individuals in the youth hockey community and beyond. We will not forget. May God Bless you and keep you strong.
Sincerely,
Charlie Gili & Family

Nicole, I amformer SGT Adam Mitchell and I served with Conley up in Washington and then along side of him in 3/7. Even though we did not have a a good relationship in WA we did make amends in 29 Palms through Iraq. I just thought you should know that he always talked about you and his soon to be born baby. He was even often found reading books on how to be a good dad to further prepare himself.
I got a chance to meet some of his MArines and they had nothing but great things to say about him. He is not forgotten and is a hero. Anytime you would like to know more please feel free to contact me. You are in my prayers.

Just wanted to say my heart goes out to all the loved ones whom I'm sure miss Mr. Conley. I was fortunate enought to make the trip back home after Desert Shield/Desert Storm and just wanted to say thanks for paying the ultimate sacrifice for the gift of freedom (which by the way comes at an enormous cost) Thanks, God bless and may you rest in peace!

I learned about Mathew because of Jason Isbel's wonderful tribute song and I just read about him on ESPN as well. His story has probably touched alot of hearts , mine included. God bless his family and I hope they can find some of life's happiness again. So on this Easter Sunday I am going to hug my duaghter, parents, brothers and grandparents and tell them all how much I love them. They will probably think I'm crazy but after reading about Matthew I realize that's something I just don't do enough.

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.
Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.
I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON (KIA on 07/06/07) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.
REST IN PEACE, HERO, YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!!

with thoughts of Cpl Matthew Conley
"O my Lord! I myself and all created things bear witness unto Thy might, and I pray Thee not to turn away from Thyself this spirit that hath ascended unto Thee, unto Thy heavenly place, Thine exalted Paradise and Thy retreats of nearness, O Thou Who art the Lord of all men!
Grant, then, O my God, that Thy servant may consort with Thy chosen ones, Thy saints and Thy Messengers in heavenly places that the pen cannot tell nor the tongue recount.
O my Lord, the poor one hath verily hastened unto the Kingdom of Thy wealth, the stranger unto his home within Thy precincts, he that is sore athirst to the heavenly river of Thy Bounty. Deprive him not, O Lord, from his share of the banquet of Thy grace and from the favor of Thy bounty. Thou art in truth the Almighty, the Gracious, the All-Bountiful.
O my God, Thy Trust hath been returned unto Thee. It behooveth Thy Grace and Thy Bounty that have compassed Thy dominions on earth and in heaven, to vouchsafe unto Thy newly welcomed one Thy gifts and Thy bestowals, and the fruits of the tree of Thy grace! Powerful art Thou to do as Thou willest. There is none other God but Thee, the Gracious, the Most Bountiful, the Compassionate, the Bestower, the Pardoner, the Precious, the All-Kwowing...."

Nicole,Tommy,Debbie,Emily,Allison and family, I just want you to know that you all are still in my prayers and that I really appreciate what Matt did for us. It is still hard to believe, but it was his time to go be with the lord. He was a very strong man and we all miss him very much. He always was laughing and cutting up. He had the best personality ever. He is watching down on us now, so we have to be strong for him because he would want it that way. Nicole, I haven't seen you in a long time, but you and Cathrine will always be in my prayers. Love and miss you girly! May God bless each and everyone of you. Love Always

I am Nichole's cousin and it hit me real hard when we found out what happened to Matt. I am 12 yrs or so older than them both and I was serving in the Army while they were beginning their relationship so I missed out on geting to really know Matt. He was one of those people that you just felt happy to know. I was only around him on Holidays at Granny's but he was always first to say hello. I guess what was the hardest for me was knowing how lucky I am for making it back ok from Somalia. Nichole from the bottom of my heart I truely am so sorry for what you are having to deal with. To the Conley family...and Nicole,
I am so sorry to hear of your loss. I wasn't aware until sometimes afterward...but it has hit close to home. My Husband had the honor of serving with Cpl. Conley at Bangor, WA...and even though I didn't know Matthew personally, knowing Nicole has made me feel, as if I knew him just as well. Cpl. Conley made the ULTIMATE sacrafice and he is now being gratefully rewarded. Know that he will ALWAYS be with you...and always tell little Mattison that she has a HERO for a father! My prayers are with you all. Just know that Matt has a new duty now, and that is...he's guarding Heaven's gates. Semper Fi Cpl. Conley

I had the honor of serving as Matt and Nicole's sixth grade teacher. God granted me the gift of knowing both of them. I will never forget the laughter that we shared. Matt always smiled with his eyes. You could not look at him without smiling back. I tried to talk him out of joining the Marines when he came and told me of his plan. He quickly informed me that it was his duty and that he was not afraid. He will never know how much he has impacted my life. Those of us who knew him were fortunate. I am truly blessed to have taught both Matt and Nicole, as well as his sister, Allison, and many other members of this fine family. God bless those who are left behind to carry on his memory.

In October 2005, we lost our nephew, Bryan W. Large (3/504 82 AA) in Iraq. Words cannot express the sorrow we have for your loss. Be comforted by your friends and family and know that your fallen hero was doing what he wanted to do every moment of the time he was in harms way. Our brave young men and women go into battle with their eyes wide open and this feat is truly remarkable. My family and I are praying for you and your family during this difficult time. We send our deepest empathy as we lost our Marine on 11/30/05 in Fallujah. We are comforted to know that our Marines are serving their country with such honor and bravery. We are so proud of our Marines and all of our other service men and women for all that they have done and continue to do to keep us safe and to give us the freedom we have that so many take for granted.
They are true Heroes and need to always be remembered for their selflessness and sacrifice to better our world. We will forever be united in the loss of our heros. We are so sorry for your loss and hope our words will ease some of the pain, and maybe fill some of your emptiness.

Psalm 23
1
The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not be in want.
2
He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters,
3
He restores my soul. He guides me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
4
Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.
5
You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.
6
Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.
This is a verse that I have found to be comforting to me during my husbands death. Remember that when it seems that no one else is round, God is still there with you! And he will be your rock!

To the Family of Cpl. Matthew D. Conley:
My heart breaks again as I sign yet another guest book of another courgeous young man who gave his life so selflessly. We lost our son 12/1/05.
I know first hand there are no words right now that will bring you the comfort and peace you need. Just know that you are not alone. My heart, thoughts, and prayers are with you all as you mourn this loss. We don't know each other, will probably never meet, but will forever be united in the loss of our Heroes. We have, unfortunately joined a group, an ever-growing group of families in this situation. May God grant you peace and strength to get through this and be able once again to smile at a memory rather than have only the tears that flow so easily now. If you ever want to talk, I'm only an e:mail away. God Bless this courageous soldier and his family.
