Funeral services celebrating the life of Julie Dahlke, age 58, of rural Glencoe were held Saturday, January 24, 2009 at 2:00 PM at First Congregational Church in Glencoe. Officiating was Rev. Keith Weber. The organist was Dawn Wolter and the soloists were Roger and Linda Landon. Musical selections included “What A Friend We Have In Jesus”, “Amazing Grace”, “Oh How He Loves You And Me”, “The Lord’s Prayer”. Serving as casket bearers were Myron Dahlke, Michael Dahlke, Matthew Dahlke and Mark Dahlke. Interment was in First Lutheran Cemetery in Glencoe. Visitation was held Friday evening at the church.
Julie Ann (Jungclaus) Dahlke was born June 6, 1950 in Glencoe, Minnesota the daughter of Vernon and Marilou (Peterson) Jungclaus. She was baptized on October 15, 1950 at First Congregational Church in Glencoe and was later confirmed into the faith on March 22, 1964, also at First Congregational Church. Julie graduated from Glencoe High School in 1968 and went on to Abbott School of Nursing. On December 18, 1971, Julie was united in marriage with Myron Dahlke at First Congregational Church in Glencoe by Rev. Donald Chapman. The couple made their home in Glencoe and were blessed with 3 sons.
Julie worked for McLeod County Public Health for 30 years and also enjoyed working with students and staff as a McLeod West school nurse for 18 years. She was a member of First Congregational Church and was involved with many church activities including: singing in the choir, helping with bake sales, being on the prayer chain, teaching Sunday school and leading the youth group. Julie loved to read, watch birds, vacation in Duluth and especially loved spending time with her six grandchildren. Julie was very dedicated to caring for others and often times put the needs of others in front of her own. She had a strong faith and it radiated in her every day life.
On January 21, 2009, Julie entered her eternal rest at her home at the age of 58 years, 7 months and 15 days. She is preceded in death by her father, Vernon Jungclaus and father-in-law Victor Dahlke. Julie is survived by the love of her life and best friend, Myron of Glencoe; sons Michael Dahlke (wife: Valerie) of Brownton, Matthew Dahlke (wife: Amy) of Hutchinson and Mark Dahlke (special friend: Danielle) of Glencoe; grandchildren Hunter Dahlke, Dylan Dahlke, Cody Dahlke, Carson Dahlke, Jesse Dahlke and Kelsey Dahlke; mother Marilou Jungclaus of Glencoe; mother-in-law Luella Dahlke of Glencoe; siblings Ronald Jungclaus of Glencoe, Marcia Wendorff (special friend: Mac McKenzie) of Bemidji, Ellen Burtzel (husband: Brian) of Prior Lake and Peter Jungclaus (special friend: Miriam Jungclaus) of Glencoe; brothers-in-law Virgil Dahlke (wife: Bev) of Champlin, Dale Dahlke (wife: Sue) of Hutchinson, Keith Dahlke (special friend: Robin Prafke) of Glencoe, Kurt Dahlke of Glencoe, Brian Dahlke (wife: Joan) of Glencoe and Gregg Dahlke (wife: Myrna) of Glencoe; as well as many other relatives and friends.
