Donald Sather Obituary

Sather, Donald H. Age 52 of McGregor died Wednesday, March 18, 2009 at his home after a courageous three year battle with ALS. Donald was born July 12, 1956 in Aitkin, Minnesota the son of Paul and Marilyn (Larson) Sather. He grew up and attended schools in McGregor graduating from the McGregor High School in 1974. He then started attended St. Cloud State University in 1978 and graduated from there with a degree in Computer Science in 1983. He returned to McGregor to help run the family business. He most recently ran the hardware store in McGregor. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, the McGregor Lions Club, the Tamarack Sportsman's Club, the Minnewawa Sportsman's Club and the McGregor Chapter of the MDHA. He enjoyed cars and drag racing, snowmobiling, hunting and trap shooting. He is survived by his parents, Paul and Marilyn Sather of McGregor; sister and brother-in-law, Linda and Gary Van Slyke of Surprise, Arz.; brothers and sisters-in-law: Bob and Diane Sather of McGregor; Lee and Kim Sather of McGregor; Curt and Diane Sather of McGregor; nieces and nephews, Aaron Hansen, Greg Frazier-Hansen, Jeffrey Sather, Amy Sather, Becky Sather, Stacey Sather, Eric Sather, Rachel Sather, Addison Don Johnson, and also Christian Murphy. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Alfred and Ruth Sather and Herbert and Ruth Larson. Funeral services will be held Monday, March 23, 2009 at 1 PM from Grace Lutheran Church with Rev. Becky Wagner and Rev. Dan Heath officiating. Visitation will be Sunday from 5 to 8 PM at the church and also 1 hour prior to the services on Monday. Burial will be in the Pine Needle Cemetery. Memorials are preferred to the Minnesota ALS Association, the local Hospice organizations or Grace Lutheran Church of McGregor. Arrangements are with the McGregor Funeral Home.
