MATTOON - Nancy Jo (Lucas) Oliver, age 69, of Mattoon, IL, passed away at 6:56 p.m., Wednesday, June 29, 2011, at her residence, surrounded by her loving family. The funeral service in her honor will begin at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, July 3, 2011, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Mattoon, IL, with Reverend Dennis Kollross officiating. Burial will be in Rest Haven Memorial Gardens, Mattoon, IL at a later date. Visitation will be held Saturday evening, 4:00-6:00 p.m., at Mitchell-Jerdan Funeral Home, 1200 Wabash Avenue, Mattoon, IL 61938. Born April 15, 1942, in Mattoon, IL, Nancy was the daughter of Robert S. and Norma J. (Klohr) Lucas. She married Jay F. Oliver on September 26, 1961 in Rantoul, IL at the Chanute Air Force Base. He survives. In addition to her husband, she is survived by two children, Kathy J. Storm and husband Jeff of Mattoon, IL, and Jill S. Oliver and partner Karin Susskind of Boulder, CO; one brother, David Lucas and wife Leona of Mattoon, IL; one sister, Deborah S. (Lucas) Nale of Longmont, CO; three grandchildren, Hannah M. Storm of Mattoon, IL, Austin C. Storm of Mattoon, IL, and Gabriel Oliver Susskind of Boulder, CO; three step grandchildren, Brandon B. Storm and wife Alison of Fairview Heights, IL, Brooke N. Lawson and husband Doug of Normal, IL, and Bret M. Storm of Mattoon, IL; and two step great-grandchildren, Camden and Ashlyn Storm, both of Fairview Heights, IL. Both parents preceded her in death. Nancy was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church of Mattoon, IL, and retired as bookkeeper from Super Valu in Des Moines, IL. She was an active community member and was involved with bridge clubs and lunch groups, was a member of the 1960 class reunion board, and a volunteer at the Mattoon Food Bank. She was active in organizing Mattoon girl's fast-pitch softball and helped form their first team. She also enjoyed flower gardening and decorating. Nancy adored her many friends, treasured her family, and was an extraordinary grandmother. Memorials in her honor may be made to the Sarah Bush Lincoln Cancer Center, Mattoon Food Bank, or the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
