Charles Napier 1936 - 2011 Mr. Napier, 75, of Bakersfield, CA, passed away quietly on October 5, 2011, at Bakersfield Memorial Hospital surrounded by his children. He was a loving father to those children and a dear friend to many, both near and far. A Kern County resident since 1984, Charles or Charlie to his friends, had made Bakersfield his home since 2005. Charles was born in Scottsville, Kentucky, to parents Linus and Sarah Lena Napier, on April 12, 1936. Upon graduating high school, Charles joined the Army and served in the 82nd Airborne Division, where he rose to the rank of sergeant. After his honorable discharge, he inrolled at Western Kentucky University and graduated with a degree in Art, then taught school for several years in Clearwater, Florida before becoming a professional actor and moving to Los Angeles. The rest, as they say, is history. Charles touched the lives and befriended many along his extraordinary journey through a life that had its few difficult moments, but in the end, would prove to be a life that most would envy and many still do. In his immediate family, Charles is survived by his three children, Meghan, Hunter and Whit, a sister and brother-in-law, Sara and Euel Holder, a niece, Melanie Holder and nephew Steve Holder. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made in Charles's name to the Kern Veterans Memorial Foundation, 661-833-4440. Services will be private and limited to family and invited guests.
