On November 10, 2005, Charles W. Ferguson, Sr., known to his friends and family as "Pete" left his earth to join his loved ones who gone before him to the arms of our Heavenly Father. While we grieve for our loss, we rejoice to know his physical suffering has come to an end.
Pete was born November 4, 1929, in El Dorado, Arkansas, the son of Kydia Franks and Coy Mason Ferguson. He was reared in Springhill, Louisiana and is well remembered as the very musical and talented drum major of the high school band. He worked for International Paper Company. Around 1957, Pete transferred with I.P. to Camden, Arkansas which became home to him and his family. They were active members of Cullendale Baptist Church. Pete and his wife, Janet, moved to North Dakota following retirement, however, his love for the South remained the same and he treasured the times he could return to visit friends and family.
He served our country in the United States Navy and it was during this tour of duty that he met his future wife, Janet, in Chicago, Ill. They shared their lives for 55 years and created many wonderful memories for their children and grandchildren.
He had many hobbies and interests and had a unique love for horses. He was a member of the Camden Saddle Club, as well as the Sheriff’s Department Mounted Patrol for several years. Pete also was an avid ham radio operator and a member of the Civil Air Patrol.
Pete made a difference in the lives of people and his love for them was evident in his dedication to his Boy Scout Troop and the young people he coached in baseball. He loved to hunt and fish, and his friends and family have many precious memories of these things he loved.
