ACEVEDO, Juan Edilberto "Chany," resident of Midlothian, born in Bogot , Colombia, S.A., died peacefully Friday, May 4, 2012, after a short illness. The son of Mr. Ricardo Acevedo and Mrs. Graciela Acevedo, Juan is survived by his wife, Julia Elsa; his son, John Acevedo and wife, Gisela; daughter, Julie Jones and her husband, David; his grandchildren, Greyson, Lauren, Leighton, Gisele, and Havana; his brother, Edgar; and his sister, Bertha. He was a retired engineer from AT&T. A talented musician and singer, he was part of "Fenix," a Colombian folkloric band. He was also a passionate soccer player, coach and referee. His greatest joy was making others happy. A loving husband and father, tender and kind. What beautiful memories left behind. His remains rest at the Huguenot Chapel of Woody Funeral Home, 1020 Huguenot Rd., where the family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday (today). A Mass of Christian Funeral will be celebrated 1:30 p.m. Monday at St. Edward the Confessor Catholic Church, 2700 Dolfield Dr. (The family will receive friends one hour prior to the church service.)
