Carter Ellis Obituary

Ellis, Carter III 65, of Bloomington, MN, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on October 6, 2012, in Las Vegas, NV. He is survived by his loving wife, Norma Ellis of 46 years; children, Cara Ellis (Hildric Booker), Carter (Tina) Ellis IV and Clayton (Krysten) Ellis; 9 grandsons, 2 great-grandsons; sisters, Susan "Nan" Crutchfield Mitsch (Robert), Joy Ellis Bartlett; and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives, friends and close friends. Carter was preceded in death by his father, Carter V. Ellis and mother, Mary Jackson Ellis. Carter retired in 2002 as the Director of Classified Automotive Advertising for the Minneapolis Star Tribune newspaper. The Automotive Industry was his passion. He started at the Classified want-ad counter in 1968 and worked in all areas of advertising throughout his career. He will always be remembered as an energetic, driven and creative man. Carter was a problem-solver and always made time to listen to others. As everyone knows, his favorite pastime was cars; new or old. Over the course of his lifetime, he owned over 150 cars, most of them white. His mother and father did not know when naming him that his passion would be part of his name: CARter. Carter attended Washburn High School and Central High School, in Minneapolis. He attended West Virginia State College, which was a family tradition. Norma and Carter retired to Las Vegas, NV in 2003, where they currently reside. A small, intimate family service will be held in Las Vegas, NV on Tuesday, October 9, 2012. In lieu of flowers or a memorial, please keep the Ellis family in your thoughts and prayers.
