APPERSON, Joseph William, 87, of Culpeper, Va., passed away at Culpeper Regional Hospital, Wednesday, November 15, 2012. Mr. Apperson was born in Culpeper County to Robert S. Apperson and Nora Ballard Apperson February 24, 1925; was a fifth generation farmer, having received the Agri-business Award for 2011 in Culpeper County; was a dairy farmer with his late brother, Robert, and currently operated a beef and sheep production, and was a deacon in the Alum Spring Baptist Church. This farmer has the honor of a Century Farm, as it has been in his family since 1788. Surviving Mr. Apperson is his wife, Hilda I. Apperson of Culpeper, Va.; his children, Joseph W. Apperson Jr. and his wife, Jill, of Marshall, Va., and George M. Apperson and his wife, Patricia, of Culpeper, Va.; his sisters, Virginia Waldrop and Edith Brooks, both of Montpelier, Va.; and his grandchildren, Nicholas George Apperson of Culpeper, Va., and Stephanie Christina Fanelli of Waldorf, Md. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, Robert. Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 17, 2012 at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Clore-English Funeral Home, with Pastor Ron Young conducting the service. Interment will be in the Fairview Cemetery. The family will receive friends from noon until service time.
