Fialkowski, Marilyn Sue passed away November 29, 2012. A private celebration was held to honor her. Marilyn was born in Wadena, Minnesota on September 24, 1928. She attended Roosevelt High School in Minneapolis Minnesota and went on to Macalester College in St. Paul. It was there where she met her husband of 58 years, Paul J. Fialkowski Jr. Together they moved to Sioux Falls, SD in 1958 to both teach in the Sioux Falls Public School district for over 30 years. Marilyn taught vocal music, English, and French at Whittier Junior High and Washington High School. She received her Masters of Education and continued her career in education until 1989 when she retired. She served as Board of Directors for the Sioux Falls Girls Chorale, and led and mentored many students in the art of vocal music. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Helene and Gloria, and her brother, Eugene, and also her husband, Paul Jr. Her sisters Ramona, Lorna, Phyllis, her brother Jerry, and her daughter Julie Valenta have survived her. The family has requested in lieu of cards and flowers that donations be sent in order to continue her legacy of music education for young people.
