HILDA DINTIMAN Obituary

DINTIMAN, Hilda Cabrera, 76, of Fredericksburg, formerly of Richmond and Puerto Rico, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, friend and community member, passed into the arms of her beloved Savior on Thursday, March 21, 2013 at Inova Fairfax Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. Hilda was born on the lovely island of Puerto Rico in Camuy, where she graduated with honors from Inter American University. From 1957 to 1958, she was an exchange student at Lock Haven University, Pa., where she earned her teaching degree in Elementary Education. She received her Master's Degree in Spanish as a Second Language at New York University and second Master's in Adult Education at Virginia Commonwealth University. She is best remembered for her deep love for family, strong faith, belief and devotion to God, a lifelong love of cooking, her strength, her bright, beautiful smile and sparkling dark eyes. She was also a loving member of the River of Life Worship Center Community in Stafford, Va. She volunteered her time and talents to Crossover Healthcare Ministries and served as a court interpreter in various counties within Virginia as part of her Interpreting and Translating Service business. Many knew her as a knowledgeable and caring teacher of Spanish at St. Gertrude's, Monacan High School, Inter American University, Virginia Commonwealth University, University of Richmond, J. Sargeant Reynolds, John Tyler, Virginia State University and University of Mary Washington. She enjoyed tennis, reading and traveling. Survivors include daughters, Brenda Jean Dintiman M.D. of Herndon, Va., and Lynne Rose Mohn M.S. of Midlothian, Va.; adored grandchildren, Justin R. Mohn, Christine M. Shanahan and Teddy Shanahan; sons-in-law, Ted Shanahan and William Lightfoot; and former son-in-law, Richard S. Mohn; George B. Dintiman of Kill Devil Hills, N.C., father of their beloved three children; her lovely sisters, Maria de Los Angeles Cabrera Quijano and Carmen Eva Cabrera D.M.D.; and loving nephews and nieces in Puerto Rico. She was preceded in death by her dear son, G. Brian Dintiman; and her brother, Andres A. Cabrera. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 28, at Covenant Funeral Service, 4801 Jefferson Davis Hwy., Fredericksburg, Va. 22408. A Memorial Service in her honor will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, March 29, at River of Life Worship Center, 7408 Jefferson Davis Hwy., Spotsylvania, Va. 22551. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery, 1902 Plank Rd., Fredericksburg, Va. 22401. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any memorial gifts in her name be made to River of Life Worship Center.
