Robert Buscher Obituary

Buscher, Robert J. May 29, 1928 - March 21, 2013 Robert J. Buscher, age 84, of Bonita Springs FL, Bayfield, WI and formerly of Mankato, MN left us on March 21, 2013. God took his weary hand and called him home after a full and happy life. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ferd and Muriel Buscher. Left to cherish his memory are his devoted wife of 60 years, Marilyn, of Bonita Springs, FL; his son, Brad J. Buscher of Minnetonka, MN; daughter, Lisa Sieling (Scott) of Eden Prairie, MN; grandchildren, Ryan Sieling (Mary) of St. Paul, MN, Megan Rogers (Ben) of Eden Prairie, MN, Beaujona and Chanel Buscher of Minnetonka, MN; sister, Mary Ann Fales (David) of Denver, CO; nieces, Mary Therese Hojem of Denver, CO and Elizabeth Allan (Keys) of La Jolla, CA & many friends whom he considered family too. Bob was born on May 29, 1928 in Minneapolis, MN. He moved to Mankato, MN with his family at the age of 6 in 1934 and made his home there for most of the next 60 years. He attended Loyola HS in Mankato and graduated from Mankato HS in 1946. He went on to Marquette University, Milwaukee, WI and graduated from the University of Minnesota School of Business in 1951. He married his best friend, Marilyn Lee Cowden on February 14, 1953. He was a very patriotic man who enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1951 and served in Denver, CO at Lowry AFB until 1955 where he worked in the finance division for the new Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs. During that time, he developed his life long passion for skiing. Bob was involved in many enterprises during his professional life including banking which became the primary focus of his business career. He worked tirelessly to promote the role of community banks and was very instrumental in helping found the Independent State Bank of Minnesota which was the first of its kind in the USA. He was a co-founder of the United Way in Mankato, MN. Bob was passionate about leaving the world a better place each day through not only his volunteer efforts, but his innate talents for gardening, household projects, investments, real estate and his beloved family. Bob had a true passion for skiing, boating and entertaining people with his unending array of stories. He had a closet full of fun costumes for every occasion. One of his life's greatest regrets was that he wasn't born with two hearts so he could love his family and friends "twice as much." He will be sadly missed by that loving family and those countless friends. Here is a final Woop-Woop to a most loved man. A visitation will be held from 1:00-2:30 PM Wednesday, March 27, 2013 at Shikany's Bonita Funeral Home, 28300 Tamiami Trail So., Bonita Springs, FL 34134. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 3:00 PM at St. Leo Catholic Church, 28290 Beaumont Rd, Bonita Springs, FL 34134.
