Donald Albrecht Obituary

Albrecht, Donald J. age 86, of Mpls, died peacefully on April 16, 2013 at ABNW hospital following a brief illness, surrounded by his family. Preceded in death by parents, Joseph and Frances; brothers, Lewis, John, Raymond; sister, Rosella. He will be deeply missed by his loving wife of 59 years, Elsie; children, Paul (Jill), Christine (Mark) Gilbertson, Joe (Suzanne); grand- children, Erin, Michael, Matt, Caitlin, Frank; sister, Margaret Rice; many nieces, nephews, other family and friends. Don served our country in WWII and The Korean War and was especially proud of his military service and his 34 years of sobriety. Don was Chief Engineer at NW bank for 29 years. After his retirement from the bank, he worked at Mt. Sinai Hospital for 9 years. He loved his family and friends, jokes, The Twins, cribbage and his good friends at Fridley ALANO. He was a compassionate and gentle man. Many thanks to the Mpls Fire Department and EMS service that brought him to ABNW. Many thanks also to the ICU staff, Marilyn, Jean and especially Jan. Visitation 3-6 PM Sunday at Methven- Taylor Funeral Home, 831-40th Ave. NE, Col. Hts. Mass of Christian Burial, 10:00 AM, Monday April 22, 2013 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 4030 Jackson St. NE, Columbia Heights, 763-788-9062, with visitation 1 hour prior to Mass at church.
