Harold "Pop" Dupee
1919 - 2013 NORTH ADAMS Harold "Pop" Russell Dupee, 93, of Barbour Street, died Sunday, April 21,, 2013, at the Mount Greylock Extended Care Facility in Pittsfield.
He was born in Adams on Nov. 9, 1919, a son of Ernest and Eura (Brouseau) Dupee. He attended schools in Adams.
He was a very proud and decorated Army Veteran of World War II, serving as a Corporal. He served under General MacArthur in New Guinea and the Philippines.
Harold and his wife, Rita, ran the Willows Motel in Williamstown for 17 years. He was also the proprietor and operator of the Dupee Floor Sanding business, which is still a family owned operation.
He was a communicant of Our Lady of Mercy Church.
Harold enjoyed many years hiking Mt. Greylock with his children and grandchildren. He loved gardening and helping people with his kind and generous heart.
His wife, Rita T. (Dargie) Dupee, whom he married June 4, 1946, in the Notre Dame Church, died in 2003.
Survivors include his two daughters, Sharon Krzanik and Joan Fortin; three sons, Harold Dupee Jr., David Dupee and Richard Dupee; 20 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren; a sister, Bernice LaPlante, and nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by two brothers, Francis and William Dupee; by a sister, Ruth LaFrance, and by a great-grandson, Jacob Fortin.
FUNERAL NOTICE: A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Harold Dupee will be celebrated Friday April 26, 2013, at 11 a.m. at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church. Burial will be at a later date.
Calling hours will be Friday from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at the Flynn and Dagnoli Funeral Home, WEST CHAPEL, 521 West Main Street, North Adams.
