OESTREICH, Harry "Bud" Lamar, 84, of Hopewell, Va., died June 9, 2013 at his residence. He was born in Ashland, Pa., and had been a resident of Hopewell since 1955. Mr. Oestreich had served with the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of Dupont Lodge #289 AF & AM, serving as past master, Petersburg Union #7, Royal Arch Mason, 32nd Scottish Rite, a former J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home associate, and retired from the Federal Correctional Institution, Petersburg, Va. as superintendent of industries. Mr. Oestreich was preceded in death by his parents, Harry W. and Lottie Detreich Oestreich; and sister, Helen Oestreich Herrmann. He is survived by his wife, Frances Koch Oestreich; daughters, Debra A. Kelly (fiance, Jack Hughes), Donna L. Bear (Chris); grandson, Aubrey J. Taylor (Debra); granddaughter, Karlah M. Taylor; great-grandson, Devan C. Taylor, all from Hopewell, Va.; brother, Allan D. Oestreich (Carol) from Miltford, Del.; and several nieces and extended family. Bud spent many years volunteering his time. Over the years, he worked with the Boy Scouts of America, Hopewell Emergency Crew, Job's Daughters (Associate Bethel Guardian), Meals on Wheels, Habitat for Humanity and Relay for Life, as well as volunteering many hours for John Randolph Medical Center. He was never idle, and had a great passion for hunting, working in his garden and traveling. A celebration of life, to include a Masonic memorial service and Military Honors, will be held at Wesley United Methodist Church on Saturday, June 15, 2013 at 11 a.m., with Rev. Wayne Rickman officiating. Interment will be at a later date.
