KEPPEL, Ernest Ludwig, of Richmond, passed away on June 20, 2013. He was born on December 26, 1920. Ernie is survived by his wife of 65 years, Marilyn "Tish" Keppel; five children, 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Ernie Keppel graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1938 and the Virginia Military Institute in 1942. He was vice president of East Coast Freight Lines for 40 years, serving with his father, the founder and president of the company. Ernie loved people and enjoyed telling stories. His self-deprecating humor was infectious. Ernie was a man of integrity whose actions were consistent with his words. Papa Ernie, we'll miss you dearly, and always treasure the memories. Thank you for your sense of humor, your dance moves and your fried chicken. A memorial service will be held 4 p.m. Monday, June 24, at All Saints Episcopal Church. Burial in Hollywood Cemetery will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the VMI Foundation, Lexington, Va., or All Saints Episcopal Church, 8787 River Rd., Richmond, Va.
