PEMBERTON, Donald Lee, 82, of Coles Point, Va., died peacefully at home on July 10, 2013, with his wife and children surrounding him. He was the son of the late Lee Herndon Pemberton and Edith Fensom Pemberton of Richmond. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Joe Anne Pemberton; his children, Rick Pemberton (Sue), Sue Pemberton Tennant (Leonard) and Amy Pemberton; his grandchildren, Emily Pemberton Orban (Jamie), Paul Pemberton (Diana) and Rebecca Tennant; and great-grandsons, Nathan and Jackson Orban. A native of Richmond, Don graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School ('48) and was a member of the cadet corps. He served in the United States Navy and graduated from Virginia Tech with a B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering ('56). He spent his entire professional career with Reynolds Metals Company, Inc. An avid Virginia Tech alum and Hokie sports fan, he also supported the school by serving on the College of Engineering's Committee of 100 and was inducted into the Virginia Tech Academy of Engineering Excellence. One of his great enjoyments in life was water color painting and he spent many years as a member of the "Rivah Country Painters" and was also a founding member of the Tappahannock Artists' Guild. His family will receive friends at Bliley's-Central, 3801 Augusta Ave., on Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. A memorial service will be held at Saint Andrews Episcopal Church in Richmond, 11 a.m. Monday. Interment will occur at a later date. The family would like to acknowledge and thank Dr. David F. Trent, the staff of the Infusion Center of the Riverside Tappahannock Hospital, as well as Riverside Tappahannock Hospice, who cared so tenderly for the family during this difficult time. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in his memory to the Leukemia /Lymphoma Society.
