Johnson, George Arthur Of Apple Valley, MN, died at Mayo Clinic, Rochester on July 4, 2013 from complications arising from a stroke. He was 74. Born February 13, 1939, he spent his boyhood years on a farm in Clayton, WI dreaming of becoming a test pilot. After four years in the Air Force, he spent 35 years in Eagan, MN at Lockheed Martin Corp. becoming a Project Engineer at Eagan Defense Systems; he retired in 2001. While at Lockheed he graduated from the University of Minnesota, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in paleoanthropology. He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Mary; their son Eric (Apple Valley); his daughter, Debra (Rice Lake WI); his sister, Char Nielsen (Forest Lake); and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by parents Art and Charlotte Johnson (Wisconsin). A memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM Thursday, July 18 at the Historic Fort Snelling Memorial Chapel. Gathering of friends 1 hour prior to service. Interment at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery after the service. Reception following at Ft. Snelling Officers Club.
