Haugh, Gerry L. Age 76, of St. Paul, passed away, fittingly, with her beloved cat perched on her lap. Gerry is survived by her four children (Mark, Noel, Scott & Lynn), their spouses, seven grandchildren, her sister Patty, and numerous friends, former co-workers and grateful alumni of the many stage plays she directed or performed in. Gerry grew up in St. Paul, where she acted in several local productions, toured the Far East with a USO-style theater group from the University of Minnesota, and published four plays. She married, moved to Winona and completed her Theater Arts degree at the College of St. Theresa. Divorced shortly thereafter, Gerry faced the challenge of single motherhood by adopting legions of additional children whom she turned into dragons, birds, donkeys, dwarves, trolls, and orphans on various stages throughout Winona. Gerry believed that "children's theater" meant children on both sides of the curtain, and to that end she directed numerous plays for Winona Community Theater and the local high schools, giving a bevy of kids the gift of applause. She worked at Watkins Home, St. Anne's Hospice, and Gregory's Hallmark in Winona before moving to St. Paul, where she worked at Securian until she retired in 2008. She will be remembered best for her roles of Mom and Grandma. Her children hope she makes good on her many promises to haunt them, and they ask all who can to join them for a celebration of her life on Saturday, August 24, 4 PM - 8 PM at Willwerscheid Funeral Home, 1167 Grand Ave., St. Paul, MN 55105. Memorial donations may be made to Steppingstone Theatre of St. Paul. Willwerscheid Funeral Home & Cremation Service 651-228-1006
