David "Dave" P. Brokenbourgh, 60, of College Station passed away September 17, 2013 at the Hospice Brazos Valley Inpatient Unit. A celebration of Dave's life is scheduled for 6 p.m. Thursday, September 19, at Memorial Funeral Chapel in College Station.
Dave was born March 25, 1953 in Chicago, Ill., the son of William J. and Delores (DeWein) Brokenbourgh. Early in his life his family moved to southern California, where he was raised and became a lifelong San Francisco Giants fan. Dave loved the beach and developed a passion for reading, history, and meditation, usually consuming a book per week.
Through the years, he enjoyed the companionship of his pet dogs. He was a veteran of the United States Navy and then studied to become a registered nurse, holding several advanced certifications. Dave currently was serving as a critical care nurse at the College Station Medical Center.
Survivors include his wife, Lois Brokenbourgh; daughter, Megan Brokenbourgh; step-son, David Nolen and wife Terah; sisters, Joyce Bailey, Billie Dee Haley; brother, Jim Brokenbourgh and wife Annie; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.
