Pastor Robert 'Bobby' Smith
Funeral service for Pastor Robert "Bobby" Smith, 62, of Eva will be Wednesday, March 26, 2014, at 11 a.m. at Journey Church in Eva with Rev. Joey Coots and Rev. Gary Driver officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial will be in Eva Cemetery. Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 8 at the church.
Mr. Smith died on Sunday, March 23, 2014, at Cullman Regional Medical Center. He was born January 20, 1952, in Morgan County to Hulit Leslie Smith and Bonnie Faye Knighten Self. He pastored for 33 years serving Pines Baptist Church, Resurrection Baptist Church and Ridgecrest Community Church, where he was the current pastor. He and his wife, Patricia, worked as missionaries in Mexico and Central America for six years. He was owner and operator of Bobby's Fisherman's Catch in Eva for 27 years. His father, Hulit "Buddy" Smith, preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Patricia Smith; two sons, Brandon Smith (Sonjah) of Cullman and Yancey Smith (Kristie) of Eva; one daughter, April Hall(John) of Eva; mother, Bonnie Faye Self (Frank) of West Point; one brother, Huey Smith (Tammy) of Lacey's Spring; two sisters, Deborah Gray (Donald) and Arlita Pennington (Eugene), both of New Hope; nine grandchildren, Benjamin, Chrissi, Chloe, Malachi, Payton, Zeb, Olivia, Riley and Connor.
He is survived by a host of nieces and nephews, stepbrothers and stepsisters and loved ones.
Pallbearers will be nephews.
