Era Maye Kelly Crutchfield

Maye Crutchfield was born in Tanner and graduated from Tanner High School where during those years she met Gilbert Marks Crutchfield. They married when Gil came home from World War II. While Gil was career Army, they moved around the southern states with their daughter Carolyn. When Gill retired they moved to Bradenton, Florida, and Maye became City Clerk. Their next move was to California to help raise their granddaughter Kelly and later they moved back to Tanner in 1985. Maye was a good baker and cook. She volunteered at the Tanner Volunteer Fire Department, Tanner Methodist Church, the American Red Cross, and to anyone who needed help.
Maye was preceded in death by her beloved Gil in April 2011; her sisters Francis and Jane; and her parents, Robert Kelly Sr. and Era Sandlin Kelly.
She is survived by her brother Robert O. Kelly Jr. and his wife Agnes; daughter Carolyn Kelly Jeffers; granddaughter Kelly McWilliams; and great grandchildren Madeline Kelly Odgers and Joseph Gilbert Odgers, all of California.
Her family wishes to thank her companions Brenda Brown and Angela Mclin, for all their love the last few years. We also thank the staff at Athens Rehabilitation and Senior Care for their compassion and loving care.
Visitation will be August 26, 2014, from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Tanner United Methodist Church, followed by a memorial service at the church. A private burial will follow.
