David M. Rupprecht, age 53, of New Durham, NH and Goffstown, NH, died Sunday April 2, 2006. He was an Operational Space Services and Support employee at Thule, Greenland. He became ill while on duty Friday evening and was rushed to the Thule clinic, then air-evacuated to a hospital in Reykjavik, Iceland. Family members who rushed to Iceland were with him when he passed away.
Born September 9, 1952 in Boston, Massachusetts, the son of Chuck R. and Julie A. (Moon) Rupprecht. A resident of New Durham, NH since 1961, he graduated from Kingswood Regional High School, class of 1971.
A Navy veteran of six years, he served in Vietnam as a sonar technician on the USS Rich and USS Rickets.
Having traveled all over the world, David had worked in aerospace technology as a Government Communications Specialist for the Air Force Satellite Control Network. A long–time employee in the AFSCN, he began his career in 1978 at Thule, Greenland, and through the years also served in various capacities at other AFSCN sites, particularly at New Boston, NH.
Interests include aerospace technology and the universe, camping, and the outdoors. In his high school years David received many awards in cross country and track. An avid photographer, he liked flying kites, loved animals, and collected technological toys to share with others. David was also an accomplished helicopter pilot. He most enjoyed spending summers with family at Biddeford Pool.
Survivors include his parents of New Durham, NH; fiancé Janice Mitchell of Derry, NH; three sisters: his twin, Debbie A. Rupprecht and life partner, Claudette Lavigne of Dover; Cathy M. and her husband Larry Hallin of Alton, NH; Laurie L. and her husband Richard Verville of Rochester; two nieces: Laurie McCallion of Rochester, NH, Tara Verville of Somersworth, NH; one niece and nephew; Stephanie and Brian Roy, both of Alton.
Calling hours will be on Friday April 7, 2006 from 5-8pm at the Peaslee Funeral Home, 24 Central Street, Farmington, NH. Funeral service will be held Saturday April 8, 2006 at 11:00am in the chapel of the funeral home with the Rev. Randolph K. Dales officiating.
