PORTSMOUTH – Dorothea Louisa Blackman, 91, of Portsmouth, RI, passed away on Tuesday, March 3, 2015.
Born in Newport on April 7, 1923, she was a daughter of late former Newport Mayor Edward G. Gladding and Mildred Minkler Gladding.
Dorothea graduated from Rogers High School in 1940 and graduated from Brown University in 1944.
She worked as a social caseworker for the State of Rhode Island until retiring in 1983.
She leaves a son Robert K. MacFarlane of Portsmouth, five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
She was predeceased by her son Donald G. MacFarlane and her brother Dr. Edward K. Gladding.
At her request, funeral and burial services will be private.
