Emily Hilscher Obituary

Emily Jane Hilscher, 18, of Woodville, was one of the 32 victims who tragically lost her life on April 16, 2007 at Virginia Tech. She was born June 2, 1988. Emily is survived by her parents, Eric and Elizabeth Hilscher, of Woodville, Va. Additional survivors include her sister, Erica Marie, a junior at Longwood University; her paternal grandparents, Carl and Merle Hilscher of Luray, Va.; and maternal grandparents, Gilman and Mary Carlson of Camden, Maine. Emily Jane was a freshman at Virginia Tech studying animal science. She was an animal lover, skilled horsewoman, and an enthusiastic cook. Her free and imaginative spirit and innate talents led to the creation of a variety of artistic treasures that she shared with those whom she loved. A memorial service will be held at Rappahannock County High School on Saturday, April 21, 2007 at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Jenkins Hobson officiating. Musical tributes and reflections shared by family and friends marked the celebration of Emily's spirit and her contributions to others' lives. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Emily's name to the Rappahannock Animal Welfare League, P.O. Box 396, Amissville, Va. 20106. An online guestbook is available at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel of Culpeper is handling the arrangements.
