Brandon Marshall Kersh of Little Rock, age 23, passed away at Conway Regional Hospital on May 24, 2007. He is survived by his wife Niki. Brandon is also survived by his parents Bobby and Debbie Kersh and his brother Travis of Benton. He is preceded in death by his grandparents Bobby Ted and Margaret Lucas of Camden and Webster and Beulah Mae Kersh of El Dorado.
Brandon was a recent graduate of UCA where he received a Bachelors degree in Biology. He was employed at UAMS in the Breast Cancer Research Department. Brandon was to begin Graduate School at UAMS in August where he had been accepted as 1 of 6 students nationwide to work toward receiving his PHD in Neuroscience.
One of Brandon’s most recent accomplishments that he was most proud of was his research, creation, and publication of the Web-Based Method for Translating Neural Developmental Time Across Species (a bioinformatics approach to translating time) to allow for the application of research from experimental species to humans. Other research programs Brandon took part in was at the University of Washington’s Friday Harbor Research Laboratories in order to conduct electrophysiological studies on the species Tritonia Diomedea and at the NASA AMES Research Center in Moffett Field, California.
Given Brandon’s extensive love of science and research it was his wish to become an organ donor so that others might lead a healthier more productive life. To those who knew and loved Brandon knew that he lived and loved life to the fullest.
Visitation will be at Proctor Funeral Home in Camden, Arkansas on Saturday, May 26 from 6 to 8 PM. Funeral services will be at Proctor’s Chapel on Sunday, May 27 at 2 PM with Reverend Larry Stacey officiating.
