Benjamin Alexander Obituary

Benjamin Franklin Alexander, age 80, son of the late Neil Ormand and Hattie Smith Alexander, passed away Monday December 10, 2007 in his home.

Mr. Alexander is survived by his wife, Ruth Secrest Alexander, son, Gene Alexander and wife Amy, daughters, Robin Alexander, and Jennifer Higgi and husband, Bakr. He was preceeded in death by his late wife Eloise Thomas Alexander, and 2 siblings, Mary Neil Alexander and Glenn Alexander. Surviving family include: sister-n-law, Julia Alexander, sister Ruth and husband Tom Ingerson, sister Nancy Church, brother David Alexander, sister Doris Alexander, brother Ralph Alexander and his wife Ruby: and 7 grandchildren; Matthew, Daniel, Meagan, and Christina Alexander and Maryam, Wasfiah, and Mohammad Higgi. He also had numerous nieces and nephews.

Mr. Alexander served the Lord as a member of Bethlehem Presbyterian Church in the capacity of deacon, elder and church treasurer. Born in Matthews, NC, he was a World War II vet. He later graduated from NC State College in 1949 with a degree in Animal Husbandry. After starting a dairy in Mecklenburg co. at his home place. He moved to Union County, where he and his wife, Eloise, continued building the dairy. After her death, he remarried Ruth and continued to farm for 42 years until 1991. He was a hard working man who strived to raise his family with integrity, strong work ethic and the principles of his Christian Faith. He lived life on God’s terms, but lived it fully!

The family received loved ones and friends at Gordon Funeral & Cremation Service in Monroe on Tuesday. Graveside service will be held at Bethlehem Presbyterian Church on Wed. Dec. 12 at 11:00 pm and a Memorial Service will be held at 11:30 pm in the Sanctuary.
