Anthony Alves Obituary

Anthony "Smokey" Alves, 61, a lifelong resident of Scituate, Massachusetts, Chief Mechanic for 31 years at Scituate Concrete Pipe Corp. who was instrumental in the research and development of innovative ideas and procedures that would revolutionize the pipe making process, died suddenly by accident on Monday, July 31, 2000. Visiting hours are scheduled for Wednesday, August 2, 2000, 4-9 p.m., at Richardson-Gaffey Funeral Home, 382 First Parish Road (off Route 3A near Scituate Police Station), Scituate. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend funeral services scheduled for Thursday, August 3, 9 a.m., from the funeral home to St. Mary of the Nativity Church, with a Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. Interment will be at New St. Mary's Cemetery, Scituate. Those who wish may remember Smokey through memorial donations to the American Cancer Society, 247 Commonwealth Avenue, Boston, MA 02118.

Smokey was a familiar face in Scituate to many, but a friend to most of those who knew him. He was a great guy and I know my father misses him very much. I can remember going up to Loudon
