Anthony P. Aguiar, 89, of Tiverton, died Tuesday at Charlton Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of Elvira (Ventura) Aguiar.
Born in Fall River, MA, a son of the late Victor S. and Palmira (Andrade) Aguiar, he resided most of his life in Tiverton.
A veteran of the United States Navy he served proudly aboard the USS Essex during WWII.
Mr. Aguiar worked as an electrical contractor and was owner and operator of A. P. Aguiar & Sons for many years.
He was a member of St. Theresa Church.
Mr. Aguiar was a fourth degree Knights of Columbus in Tiverton.
Besides his wife of 63 years, he is survived by a daughter, Karen M. Vinchkoski and her husband Donald of Wappingers Falls, NY and a son, Kevin Aguiar and his wife Kathleen Keay of Dartmouth, MA, 4 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and a niece Judith Rosa. He was the brother of the late Victor Aguiar and Carlos Aguiar.
His funeral will be held on Saturday at 8:45 a.m. from the OLIVEIRA FUNERAL HOME 2064 South Main St. followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Theresa Church. Interment is private.
