Mr. Bradley Alton Baxter, 45, of 6383 Flay Road, Cherryville, died Sunday, March 20, 2005 at his residence.
Born in Lincoln County on May 26, 1959, he was a son of Gerald Baxter, Sr. and Dorothy Leatherman Baxter both of Cherryville. He was an engineer assistant for Duke Energy in Charlotte for over 20 years. Mr. Baxter was also co-owner and operator of Laura’s Frozen Fantasies of Cherryville. He was member of Bess Chapel United Methodist Church in Cherryville, where he was a member of the Visions Sunday School Class, Youth Director for many years, former Sunday School Teacher, Lay Leader and Lay speaker for Bess Chapel and also the leader of the Present Building Program. Mr. Baxter was also Vice President for the West Lincoln Optimist Club for a number of years. He was a West Lincoln Middle School Basketball coach for two years.
In addition to his parents he is survived by his wife of 24 years, Laura Baker Baxter, two sons, Nicholas and Matthew Baxter both of the home, and a brother and sister-in-law, Gerald Baxter, Jr. and Joanne of Murrells Inlet, SC.
A Celebration of Life service will be 4:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 23, 2005 at Bess Chapel United Methodist Church with the Rev. Randi Godfrey and Rev. George Williams officiating. The body will be placed in the church thirty minutes before the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:30 p.m., on Tuesday, March 22, 2005 at Stamey ~ Cherryville Funeral Home.
