Dixie A. Adams, 65, Anderson, died June 2, 2003 at her daughter’s home after a brief illness.
She was born March 28, 1938 in Anderson and was a lifelong Anderson resident. She was a graduate of Anderson High School. In 1991 she retired from Delco Remy after 19 years of employment.
Dixie attended North Anderson Church of God and was a member of Alexandria Eagles Lodge 1771 and Anderson Moose Lodge. She enjoyed painting and playing cards, and was an excellent seamstress. During her lifetime, she enjoyed go-karting, camping and fishing with her family.
She is survived by her husband of 43 years, James E. Adams, of Anderson; two daughters, Kim (husband, Randy) Collins and Dawn (husband, Brian) McCord, all of Anderson; five grandchildren, Danielle Fetz, Whitney Collins, Meaghan Collins, Zachary Collins and Jordan Hines; two step-grandchildren, Lindsey McCord and Jordan McCord; sister, Pam (husband, Johnny) Harless, of Anderson; one niece and two nephews; several aunts, uncles and cousins, including Jackie “Bonnie” Mitchell, of Anderson.
Also surviving are close friends, Anna Aynes, Jan Truman, Mike Swinford, Isleah Everman, Gerry Fetherson, Pat Mitchell, Jim and Juanita Pershing, David Seybert and Bruce Seybert.
She was preceded in death by her mother and step-father, Mary & Forest Kiphart; father and step-mother, Floyd and Helen Aynes; and grandson, Timothy Hines.
Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Home with the Rev. Keith Stork of North Anderson Church of God officiating. Burial will be in Maplewood Cemetery.
Visitation will be 4-8 pm Thursday at the funeral home.
