Donald James Alaconis
Donald James Alaconis, 74, of Guilford passed into eternal life on Sunday, March 22, 2009 in his home surrounded by his loving family. Born in Springfield, MA, May 5, 1934, son of the late Victor and Edith O’Donnell Alaconis. He will be greatly missed by his beloved wife of 46 years, Judith T. Alaconis. Loving father, Sharon M. Alaconis of Springfield, MA and Jim V. Alaconis and his wife Mary of East Haddam. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Emmeline, Justin, Angeline, Amanda, and Rich, and a great granddaughter, Madison, along with grand dogs, Dakota, Riley, Montana and Max. Predeceased by his son, Donald J. Aalaconis, Jr, a brother, Ed Alaconis and a sister, Shirley Kotowicz.
Mr. Alaconis was a graduate of UMASS. He served his country in the US Army. He worked as an International Business Consultant for over thirty five years at the Richardson and Nova companies. After leaving Nova, he went on the form his own successful company, Donald Alaconis Associates and later formed a second successful company, D & S Associates with his daughter, Sharon. Donald was an avid international traveler, especially when it came to traveling with his family and his wife. A couple of Donald and his wife’s favorite destinations were Ireland and Hawaii. He also had a love of cooking which brought him and his wife to a cooking school in Italy. Some of his other passions were gardening and photography. Donald had a great sense of humor, which kept everyone around him laughing; sometimes all it took was a wink or “the look.”
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. George Church, 33 Whitfield St, Guilford on Sat. March 28 at 11am. Burial will follow Mass in Alder Brook Cemetery, Boston St, Guilford.
Friends may call at the Guilford Funeral Home, 115 Church St, Guilford on Fri. March 27 from 4–7pm.
