Dorinda I. Alexander, 60, of Newport Center, passed away suddenly in Newport on Friday, April 22, 2005.
She was born in Worcester, Massachusetts on September 4, 1944, the daughter of Axel and Muriel (Chandler) Johnson.
Dorinda moved to Newport Center from Griswold, Connecticut eight years ago. She was a Registered Nurse, working at the Union House Nursing Home in Glover. She loved her career and served at several nursing homes in the area. Dorinda loved spending time with her family and grandchildren, and loved her flower garden.
On May 6, 1966 she married John Alexander Sr., who survives her. She is also survived by her mother, Muriel Johnson of Griswold, Connecticut, her children, Kimberly Grohocki-Cicio and her husband Tim of Coventry, John Alexander Jr. and his wife Crystal of Coventry, and Laura Alexander-Mackin and her husband Dan of Griswold, Connecticut, her grandchildren, Johnathan and Tabatha Grohocki, Timothy Cicio Jr., Elizabeth, Madison and Cody Alexander, Echo, Ty and Willow Alexander-Mackin, her brother, Joseph Johnson of Florida, her sisters, Susan Christie of Griswold, Connecticut, and Sarah Borrows of Kansas, her uncle, John Peebles of Springfield, Massachusetts, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her father, Axel Johnson.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, April 26 at the Curtis-Britch-Converse-Rushford Funeral Home, Darling Hill Road, Newport (formerly Sias Ave.) at 2:00 p.m. with the Pastor Darian Sawyer officiating.
