Dorothy (Moniz) Aguiar, 83, of Fall River, died Saturday at Southpointe Rehab. and Skilled Nursing Center. She was the wife of the late Manuel Aguiar, Jr.
Born in Fall River, a daughter of the late Joao and Carolina (Silva) Moniz, she lived in Fall River for most of her life.
Mrs. Aguiar worked as a seamstress and floor lady for Soloff and Sons for 21 years, later she worked as a floor lady for River Falls Manufacturing retiring in 1999.
She was a member of the Liberal Club Ladies Auxiliary and a member of the former St. Elizabeth’s Church Ladies Guild and its Holy Rosary Society.
She enjoyed dancing, bingo and watching old movies.
She is survived by a son, Edward Aguiar and his wife Shirley of Fall River, MA, 6 grandchildren, a great-grandchild, many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews, she also leaves her friend Ronald Costa. She was the mother of the late Manuel Aguiar and George Aguiar and sister of the late Mary Moniz-Botelho.
Her funeral will be held on Wednesday at 9 a.m. from the Oliveira Funeral Home 2064 South Main St. followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in Holy Trinity Church. Interment in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours Tuesday 5 – 8 p.m.
