Ella A. Black, a former Croton resident, died Tuesday at Vassar Hospital, in Poughkeepsie. She was 76.
Ella was employed for 13 years at the Croton Watch Company, for 10 years at Maryknoll, in Ossining, and for 6 years as a Cafeteria Worker in the Croton School District.
She was born on August 23, 1928 to William and Sarah Byers Anderson. On September 3, 1950 she married Arthur Black, at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Croton. Her family said that she enjoyed reading, and craft works, such as knitting, crocheting, and needlepoint.
She is survived by her husband Arthur, of Wappingers Falls, her sons, Jerome (Judy), of New Mexico, William (Susan), of Wappingers Falls, and James (Anita), of Crystal River, FL; also her 6 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
Calling hours are Thursday from 7-9PM, and Friday, from 2-4 & 7-9PM at EDWARD F. CARTER FUNERAL HOME, 41 Grand St. Croton. A Graveside Service is planned for late next week.
