Mr. Eugene “Rene” F. Beaupre, 90 formerly of Franklin, died at the NH Veterans Home in Tilton on Nov. 14, 2006. He was born in Franklin on Jan. 9, 1916 the son of Eugene F. and Annie (Cote) Beaupre. He resided most of his life in Franklin and attended St. Mary School and was a graduate of Franklin High School, class of 1935. During World War II, he served with the US Army from 1942 until 1946 when he was discharged as a T/5. Rene served Ie Shima Island, Japan, Okinawa Island, Japan, and finally in Korea. He was the recipient of several awards.

Mr. Beaupre worked in construction for many years including employment with O’Malley Construction in Manchester, Amesbury Park Development in Contoocook, and lastly TJ Sokul Construction in Franklin. Mr. Beaupre also was a self-employed licensed plumber for many years.

Mr. Beaupre was communicant of St. Paul Church and was a member the St. Jean de Baptiste Assn. He was a life member of the Franklin Elks Lodge #1280, Concord Elks Lodge #1210, DAV #10 in Laconia, and Franklin VFW Post #1698 and The Military Order of Cooties, and American Legion Post #49. He was a member of The Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie #290 in Manchester and was Past Worthy President of Eagles Aerie #3517 in Laconia. Eugene was a Past Worthy President of The NH State Aerie.

Mr. Beaupre was a member of The Franklin Historical Society and was a Supervisor of the checklist as a Republican in Ward 1 for many years. He was a longtime supporter of the State Republican Party.

Family members include 2 sisters-in-law, Mildred Beaupre of Franklin and Blanche Beaupre of Manchester, and nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by brothers: Robert, Roger, and Roland Beaupre, and a sister, Yvonne Desrochers.

Visiting hours will be held Friday, Nov. 17, 2006 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at Thibault-Neun Funeral Home, 143 Franklin St., Franklin. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, Nov. 18th at 10 am at St. Paul Church. Burial will be in NH State Veterans Cemetery.
